Luísa Maita was born in 1982 in São Paulo, Brazil. Her mother, Myriam Taubkin, has been an important concert producer for over thirty years. Her gregarious father, Amado Maita, was a musician who always had the house full of visiting friends, and Luísa was immersed in music from an early age. She soon recorded vocals with her uncle Daniel Taubkin and in 2003 with the group Urbanda. In 2006, Virginia Rosa recorded two of Luísa's compositions, and in 2009 Mariana Aydar's version of a song co-written by Luísa and Rodrigo Campos was selected as "Song of the Year" by Rolling Stone Brazil magazine. Luísa released her debut album Lero-Lero in 2010.
